Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Launches First Ski Destination
September 28, 2008 by Fractional Property Ownership, Timeshare & Luxury Travel Magazine · 1 Comment
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific has continued its rapid growth throughout Asia Pacific following the launch of the newly developed Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Wanaka on New Zealand’s South Island.
The brand new deluxe apartments, purpose built for WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham Owners, have been constructed adjacent to Mt. Aspiring Hotel, Lake Wanaka, itself managed by Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific.
According to the company’s CEO, Barry Robinson, the hybrid model of offering accommodation for both WorldMark South Pacific Club Owners as well as the general public is the key to its rapid growth.
“We have evolved the traditional timeshare concept into the much more flexible Vacation Ownership concept where members can use Credits purchased to holiday at any one of our now 18 resorts across the South Pacific region,” Mr. Robinson said.
“That, combined with our hybrid approach, where we also offer hotel rooms and suites to the general public, means we have two revenue streams which protect us from industry fluctuations. It’s a very robust business model.”
Mr. Robinson said that while some competitors’ development portfolios were being devalued, Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific continued to remain highly active as a resort development and management company.
With Wanaka completed, and major development and refurbishments underway at our resorts at Seven Mile Beach, Tasmania, Dunsborough, Western Australia and Coffs Harbour and Sydney, New South Wales, we are not only rapidly broadening our portfolio, we’re significantly lifting the standards in terms of quality and luxury,” Mr. Robinson said.
The Wanaka resort is only 40 minutes from the world-class ski resorts of Treble Cone and Cardrona and provides WorldMark South Pacific Club’s Owners with access to the company’s first ski destination. It is also only a short walk from the pristine shores of Lake Wanaka and only two minutes from Lake Wanaka village.
“Strategically, the Wanaka region fits our portfolio perfectly. It provides us with our first ski destination in the South Pacific region yet it is also famous as a year-round adventure destination,” Mr. Robinson said.
The resort offers a range of studio, one, two and three bedroom luxury apartments as well as a gymnasium, heated pool with water slide, spa pool, steam room and the fully refurbished Rafters Restaurant and Bar.
“Throughout the resort’s design and development, the emphasis has been entirely on providing a very high standard of finish and we are very happy with the outcome,” Mr. Robinson said.
“We are also very focused on providing personalised, friendly service so WorldMark South Pacific Club Owners are truly satisfied with the overall holiday experience.”
Wanaka is a one-hour drive from Queenstown and Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Wanaka becomes the 18th hotel or resort available to WorldMark South Pacific Club Owners throughout Asia Pacific.
