The Adirondack Lifestyle
Generations of American families once enjoyed a celebrated tradition, bidding farewell to the city for a seasonal retreat among the Adirondack Mountains. These enchanted valleys tell a century-long story of the Great camp ritual, where reunion and reflection played out among the grandeur of the Adirondack lodges and the wilderness that inspired them.
With six million acres of forest, 46 rugged mountain peaks, 2800 lakes and ponds and 2000 miles of hiking trails, the Adirondack Park served as the most amazing backyard to the great camp experience. Now it does once again at the Whiteface Lodge.
The Village
A quintessential alpine village, Lake Placid is watched over by the Adirondack’s highest peaks and situated on two tranquil lakes- with Mirror lake at town’s centre and Lake Placid adjacent to it.
Lake Placid is best known as the host for 1932 and 1980 winter Olympics. As a result the village features remarkable downhill and cross-country skiing as well as an array of one-of-a-kind activities- from bobsledding to a toboggan shoot on the lake.

A four season destination, the warmer months offer golfing, horse riding, canoeing and kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and much more. Shoppers find a variety of upscale boutiques and there are many fine restaurants in the area.
The real lure of lake Placid is the quietude and the complete sense of escape offered by one of the world’s most beautiful destinations.
The Lodge is in a woodland setting in the High Peaks region of the spectacular Adirondack Mountain Range, it is adjacent to the alpine village of Lake Placid and is within close proximity to an abundance of four-season recreational activities. The Whiteface Lodge is a 5-1/2-hour drive by car from metropolitan New York City and Boston and just two hours from Albany, Burlington and Montreal. Lake Placid is also accessible via Amtrak service; commercial aircraft and private charter aircraft fly into the Saranac Lake Airport and Lake Placid Airport.
The Resort
The Whiteface Lodge is an exquisitely handcrafted resort, created from the majestic timbers of the region by the last of a breed of artisans whose talents are manifest in natural materials, such as wood, fibre and stone. The elegantly rustic lodge offers guests the opportunity to experience – with all of their senses – the familial comforts and amenities of the classic “Great Camp” of the Adirondacks. In times past, the region was
dotted with privately owned enclaves geared to relaxing reunions with family and friends. The Whiteface Lodge updates this tradition for a new generation. Opened in 2005, it is the most significant development to launch in Lake Placid since the village hosted the 1980 Winter Olympics. The Adirondack Regional Tourism Council honoured The Whiteface Lodge with the Annual Private Sector Tourism Partnership Award for the largest Adirondack tourism infrastructure investment in the last century.

The Lodge offers 94 beautifully appointed residential suites, a three-story Great Room and beautifully manicured grounds, as well as year-round, indoor/outdoor guest amenities. Everything has been designed to emulate the look and feel of a bygone era when multitudes traveled to the north woods seeking rest, solitude and rejuvenation. Geared to couples, families and groups of friends, The Whiteface Lodge provides an environment where people can disconnect from the pace of everyday life and reconnect on a genuine and
personal level.
Accommodation
The Whiteface Lodge is the only all-suite luxury resort in the Adirondacks offering guests a superb array of services and amenities while in residence. Accommodations include one, two and three bedroom residential suites from 550- to 3,100-square feet of living space and they have recently announced the opening of eight new Clubhouse Suites, including a 3,600-square-foot Presidential Suite. The new suites bring to 94 the total number of residences featured at this authentic Adirondack property.

“We are very excited to offer our guests additional luxurious accommodations that provide state-of-the-art amenities as well as set a new standard for mountain retreats in the Adirondacks,” said Mike Straube, East Coast Regional Director of Operations of Gemstone Hotels and Resorts, the management company for The Whiteface Lodge.
