The 7 Seven Spa Philosophy And Concept
February 14, 2009 by Fractional Property Ownership, Timeshare & Luxury Travel Magazine · 1 Comment
The 7 Seven Spa chain, was created in Portugal in 2005 and has a international vocation taking its inspiration from universal sources. They combine the knowledge of ancient therapies with current techniques, all derived from a diversity of cultures.
It embraces many Spa concepts, including: Resort Spa, Destination Spa and Day Spa, with some providing medical supervision.

Seven is a very powerful number with great symbolic, mythical and mystical significance: seven days of creation, seven cosmic rays of creation, seven sacrements, seven virtues, seven deadly sins, seven angels of Christianity, seven wonders of the ancient world, each of the four lunar phases lasts seven days, seven days of the week, seven colours of the rainbow, seven levels of human reality and nature, seven groups of atomic weight of elements, seven principal ‘chakras’, seven represents the totality of the created universe, it is the synthesis of three, which symbolises the spirit, and four, which represents the material.
The 7 Seven Spa chain promotes a holistic viewpoint, looking to the well-being of its clients. Holistic therapies have the objective of balancing and harmonising the human bio-physiological, energy and psychological aspects: body, mind, spirit.
The concept is inspired in the ancient Hindu and Buddhist science of the seven principal energy centres of the body – the seven ‘chakras’ – responsible for the distribution of vital energy to the human body. It caters for healthcare problems, both preventative and curative, rehabilitation, fitness and beauty. The therapies administered are an antidote to an unhealthy modern lifestyle, such as bad eating habits and stress, which can lead to the weakening of the body. Through the treatments administered by qualified staff, the aim is to meet the needs of an ever growing and more demanding clientele.
The symbolic plant of the 7 Seven Spa chain is the hibiscus, because of its importance in Fitotherapy and Chromotherapy and the beauty of its flowers, as well as its ancient and international symbolism. The flowers of the hibiscus are greatly appreciated in Europe, North Africa, America and particularly in Hawaii and Egypt. In India the flower is dedicated to Ganesh – the God of Knowledge. The Holistic conception of health and the 7 Seven Spa concept, presuppose the fruition of healthy pleasures, of love, of harmony with nature, with others and with ourselves.
Water is the inspirational source of 7 Seven SPA Vilamoura. Everything is interconnected through this precious element in a unique mist of sounds, movements and splashes.
There is 2.800m2 of water used at the Spa and a full range of humid or dry services are on offer, which help you to relax: This includes the hydro-massage pools, waterfall experience showers, water tunnel experience, zen gardens, an ice fountain and a range of saunas, steam rooms and aroma baths, all reflecting the unique art form in the largest and most luxury Spa of the Algarve.
The 7 Spa day begins with the water treatments followed by an extensive choice of experiences tailored to the individual including facials, massages and body treatments some of which are below.
Water Treatments
After taking a brief shower, you can experience the leisure circuit which is made up of hydrotherapy features and heated and cold hydro-massage pools all set in extremely in peaceful surroundings. You can then relax in the Zen gardens. Special aromas, colours and herbal essences will enhance your feeling of well- being.
Aroma Bath
An aromatic mild sauna which is slightly humid prepares the body for the next stages of heat therapies. It increases the flow of oxygen and gives an overall feeling of comfort.
Sauna
Dry scented heat promotes relaxation and tones the skin tissue and helps to remove toxins from your body.
Aroma Steam Bath
This treatment is very humid, warm and totally relaxing. The aroma steam bath promotes both physical and emotional wellbeing and is also greatly beneficial for the respiratory system.
Waterfall Experience
You can then try one of the waterfall showers which are designed to invigorate the body and stimulate the senses in between the sauna and steam sessions.
Water Tunnel Experience
This a totally unique experience takes you through different water sensations by employing different temperatures, colours and aromas.
Ice Fountain
After passing through the sauna, Turkish bath or aromatic bath, the ice fountain applies friction to the body using ice. This practice produces the necessary ‘thermic shock’ to facilitate calorie loss and body toning.
Following the water experiences you can select a treatment from an extensive menu.
Facial Treatments
There is a full range of facial treatments available ranging from nourishing facial massages to help reduce the signs of fatigue, Rejuvenating Facials to replenish the moisture and help minimise the appearance of fine lines and the Regenerative Facial which helps to slow down the signs of premature ageing. This includes a specialised lifting massage that gives lasting results. And it is not just for the ladies- there is a Skin IQ Facial specially designed for men. It helps to minimise the signs of aging and protects against the harsh
effects of shaving.
Body Treatments
Be re-energised with a Deep Body Exfoliation and a relaxing moisturizing ritual to invigorate and re-mineralise the skin or try the Welcome Traveller Body Wrap which combines the richness of sea plants with a warming blend of pine and rosemary. This therapy detoxifies and helps ease muscle tension, pain and fatigue. A very popular treatment is the Body Slim Wrap. This wrap combines a blend of Juniper and Lemon which decongests and stimulates the body’s metabolism, helping to burn surplus fat and refine your silhouette at the same time reducing the appearance of cellulite.
Massages
The Classic Massage applies different amounts of pressures to points of the body to improve blood circulation and promote muscular relaxation which helps to calms your body and mind. The Golf Massage is a deep tissue massage and is designed to target the specific needs of golfers. A warm-up session and stretching is followed by a massage to prepare or recover muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Holistic Treatments
Shirodara Massage – The word Shirodhara breaks into two parts: ‘shiro’ means head and ‘odhara’ means flow. Together they form a concept that aims to create physical and emotional balance through a relaxing technique in which warm oil is poured over the forehead and massaged all over the body.
Shiatsu – The ancient art of Japanese massage uses pressure points to clear and balance the internal energies of the meridians and organs, with the use of thumb, hand and elbow pressure.
Chakra Balancing – A deep massage concentrated on meridian points with a blend of exotic essences of Ylang Ylang, Geranium or Frangipani. Brings your body and emotions into total equilibrium
Hot Stone Massage – The deep penetrating heat from the volcanic stones is used to massage the body using traditional techniques to ease the pain and tension of muscles as well as deeply relaxing and re-balancing the mind and body.
Reflexology – This ancient therapeutic massage is practised through the application of rhythmic pressure onto the reflex points of the feet. It improves circulation and energetically re-balances the effected organs.
Spa Cuisine
After a totally relaxing day at the spa treat yourself to lunch in the Spa restaurant. 7 Seven Spa Cuisine caters for your well-being, through nutritional balance and the absolute pleasure of the palate. The restaurant was a concept developed in exclusive partnership with Joya** Michelin.
