New Luxury Hotel And Woodland Holiday Homes In Cornwall
September 12, 2008 by Owners Perspective (Fractional Ownership & Timeshare Consumer Magazine) ·
An idyllic £30 million destination hotel resort – The Cornwall Hotel, Spa & Estate – is being built near St. Austell. The high spec hotel, spa and luxury holiday home development is now under construction in a breathtaking natural setting in Tregorrick. It is due for completion in December 2009.
Set in 43 glorious acres of historic wood and parkland – near the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the magnificent beaches of the southern Cornish coast – the unique new development will comprise: a super stylish boutique hotel, a state-of-the-art spa and 60 luxury woodland homes. All will have a natural theme and blend seamlessly into the surrounding designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
A nineteenth century country house, formerly belonging to the Coode family – of which Ed Coode the Olympic gold medallist rower is a member – is to be converted into a 65-bedroom hotel, complete with fine dining restaurant and family bistro. The architectural design will complement the building’s original character with striking contemporary features. Fifty-six new luxury bedrooms with generous balconies will be skilfully arranged in the woodland slopes behind the house – affording superb views over the parkland and valley beyond. These rooms will be integrally linked to the hotel.
Nineteenth century stables are to be converted into a stylish spa. The Clearing Spa will offer an oasis of tranquillity, relaxation and pampering – complete with an infinity-edged pool, drench showers, sauna, steam room, high tech treatment rooms, gym, tennis courts and juice bar. All the beauty and health treatments on offer will be holistic and natural – in line with the development’s overall ethos.
Sixty two and three double-bedroom detached woodland homes will provide ultra chic, spacious holiday accommodation. Designed to bring the outdoors indoors, they are to feature substantially glazed front elevations and will be thoughtfully positioned around the estate. They will also have elevated views, generous balconies, high spec fittings and furnishings.
Richard Whitehouse of CMR Leisure says: “The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate is a very exciting concept, and we are extremely proud of what we are creating. We have ensured that our development plans will respect and sensitively complement the outstanding flora, fauna and setting of the estate – and the integrity of its buildings.
“Conservation is at the very heart of our proposals. The estate’s historic setting and natural beauty is our greatest asset. It has been the inspiration for the architecture and interiors, and it is a very important part of what The Cornwall will be able to offer to its guests and home owners. This sensitive approach will ensure The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate will be a modern luxurious 21st century hotel, whilst retaining the beauty, charm and integrity of its historic and unspoilt rural setting.”
The Cornwall has been designed by award-winning architects AWW. It will be run on behalf of Bristol-based developers and owners, CMR Leisure, by the independent hotel group Bespoke Hotels – which has a portfolio that includes: London’s premier private members’ club Home House; Fredrick’s Hotel, Restaurant and Spa in Berkshire; and the four-AA-Rosette Pinewood Hotel in Buckinghamshire.
