Italian Property Offers Great Lake Escape
September 12, 2008 by Fractional Property Ownership, Timeshare & Luxury Travel Magazine · Leave a Comment
As another damp summer draws to a close, many Brits hoping for an idyllic English countryside holiday are now dreaming of a place in the sun. Italian Property (http://www.italianproperty.eu.com), one of the largest, independently operated real estate and restoration agencies in Italy, has a selection of properties offering all the dramatic landscape of the Lake District – but with the warm Mediterranean climate.
Clients can choose from historical town houses, lakeside properties with panoramic views and traditional stone farmhouses, all on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, Italy’s stunning ‘inland sea’.
Jason Jones, managing director says: “Lake Trasimeno is less well known than the Italian Alpine lakes, but won’t be able to keep its irresistible charms a secret for much longer. Offering rural seclusion, dramatic landscapes and medieval hamlets – yet with the great centres of Renaissance art within easy reach – it’s an ideal setting, whether you’re looking for a summer getaway, a great investment or a permanent home abroad.”
Lake Trasimeno sits in the centre of the Italian Peninsular in Umbria. Surrounded by mountains and rolling hills, rich in olives groves and vineyards, its waters are clean and fresh, ideal for swimming and a source of the incredible fish dishes served in local trattoria.
The area is awash with medieval villages, markets, churches and museums, with many fine examples of medieval and Renaissance art. Perugia, with its stunning frescoes and fountain, is less than 20 miles from the lake; hilltop Assisi, with its famous Basilica of St. Francis, an easy drive; and the walled town and ruined medieval castle at Castiglione del Lago sit on the shore. For those more interested in active pursuits, sailing, windsurfing and diving are available around the pretty lakeshore town of Passignano.
Italian Property’s Trasimeno portfolio includes: an apartment within a converted Benedictine Abbey dating back to the 2nd century; attractive villas with breathtaking views of the lake; a period town house in the 12th century village of Monte Del Lago; and two traditional stone farmhouses, set in ancient olive groves, ripe for restoration – the few remaining examples of this type in the area. Prices start at €310,000.
Trasimeno’s central Italian location sees it well served with transport links: the airport in Perugia is just 30 minutes away by car, with Pisa, Florence and Rome no more than 2 hours away. It is close to the A1 highway, and on the main train line between Rome and Milan.
